Automakers Hit New York To Reverse Tide

For over 75 years, the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, along with its counterpart shows in Geneva and Detroit, have been launchpads for the best automotive technology built by either the Big Three or their foreign rivals.

So much for launchpad.

After recent years of languishing sales from General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler and now safety and reliability concerns from Toyota, the atmosphere and layout compared to years past was subdued. In a potential effort to separate Toyota and Lexus from U.S. only cousin Scion, the two major brands together, whereas Scion was adjacent to Mini and Chrysler on the other side of the main exhibition hall.
